Henrique Machado - Jewel of the House

An in-depth knowledge of tourism and hospitality. This is how we can define commercial manager Henrique Machado, who started in the area through his experience in student tourism, taking groups to Argentina, Santa Catarina and Paraná.

Much of your career choice is inspired by your own family. “Since I was little, I accompanied my mother on trips and she was already working in this sector”, he recalls, who later studied Tourism and Hospitality at the Methodist Institute (IPA).

The joy, cordiality and diplomacy that characterize Henrique so well were always successful wherever he went: he was a supervisor at the now defunct Vasp, and was even responsible for closing the operation in Porto Alegre. He was also an intern, working at Porto Alegre city hall and taking care of tourist planning processes and itineraries. In the hotel industry, after completing a postgraduate degree in the area, Henrique worked in different roles: from receptionist, reception manager to hotel manager.

But it was at the Swan network that Henrique, who completed 13 years at the company, developed professionally. “I started as reception manager at the Novo Hamburgo unit. Afterwards, I was operational manager at the then Molinos and, as I closely followed the hotel's commercial negotiations, I had the opportunity to take over the commercial department of the entire chain”, he says, having been responsible for Swan's commercial strategies for 12 years, as well as its reservations center. .

One of the great advantages of his knowledge is precisely the ability to combine extensive hotel operational experience with the promise made commercially to the customer. “They should always go together”, recommends Henrique, who follows the transformations in tourism, whether completing a postgraduate degree (he is currently studying his fourth specialization), or studying trends in consumer behavior.

“Today, people look for other attractions in a hotel, not just accommodation. There is also a greater demand for micro apartments or colivings. These are movements that generate opportunities for action like the ones we launched”, he explains while highlighting the network's recent initiatives, such as Swan Generation and Jangal das Araucárias.

“I am very grateful to Swan for the way I was welcomed from the beginning and encouraged to develop professionally”, he highlights.
