A little big leader at Swan Porto Alegre

Désirée Augé - Joia da Casa

Woman, leader, wife, mother of three children. Désirée Augé, our operational manager at Swan Porto Alegre is small in size, but giant in the way that she can handle so many simultaneous roles without losing her motivation to always see the good in everything.

His enchantment with the hotel industry began as a teenager when he went on vacation with his parents. “I loved the dynamism of that atmosphere and wanted to make it my profession”, she recalls, who then took the entrance exam for hotel management in Pelotas, her hometown.

During the course, he completed internships in the sector, working in the events area. Once in Porto Alegre, he experienced all the excitement generated by the 2014 World Cup until he decided it was time to try working in other areas of the hotel industry. “I went to the operational area of a hotel and ended up leaving to focus on my second newborn child”, he says.

During this short hiatus outside the market, Desirée was invited to participate in the selection process for a place in events serving the two units in Porto Alegre. “In February 2018, I started at Swan, also participating in the shift schedule at the then Molinos (now Generation) and helping other sectors”, she revives, highlighting that 2019, due to the large flow of events, she came to question whether she would be able to give account of the workload. “It was a challenge and a learning experience.”

Little did she know that with the pandemic came new challenges, especially being away from activities. However, with her return, new opportunities arose that Desirée knew how to seize like no one else: she is currently the operational manager at Swan Porto Alegre, taking care not only of the unit but of the 24 people who make up her team.

And the fact that she is a woman gave her a more empathetic outlook on both the employees and the customers who frequent the hotel. “As a leader, I help people understand the importance of their tasks, engaging and encouraging them. The friendships we build are our fuel.”

Some results of its actions are already visible: the hotel's evaluation in rankings such as Booking has increased and the building structure has received important updates. We are going to hear a lot more about this little great woman.
