A Grand Idea
Carlito Schwan - Founder Rede Swan
The year was 1990. Carlito Schwan worked as a company advisor in Novo Hamburgo, which, despite the country's political and economic instability, was at its peak, being recognized nationally and internationally as the footwear capital.
“It was a request from businesspeople in the city, my clients at the time, who needed an international standard hotel in Novo Hamburgo to accommodate their contacts. After a trip with my wife Shirlei, I came back inspired and determined to build the first Swan”, recalls Carlito, creator of the hotel chain.
The first steps towards making Carlito's project a reality ranged from visiting developments abroad to the acquisition of several plots of land that today form the Swan network. “I still remember when I showed the model to my business partner and his surprise at the size of the project, as he imagined a leaner structure. I knew it couldn't be just any hotel, I needed to delight future guests and be in the right places”, he says, explaining: “privileged location is one of the attributes most sought after by customers in any accommodation destination”.
On April 6, 1993 – three years after the start of the work – Swan Novo Hamburgo was inaugurated, precisely at the same time as one of the city's most traditional fairs, FIMEC. Thus, the Swan Hotéis Network was also born, which became a reference for good service and strategic location in the main development centers of the State as well as in Portugal.
